Time is running out for businesses to get their hands on £2m of grant funding

Tuesday 2nd October

Small businesses will need to hurry if they want to access the remaining £2m of grant funding left in the Business Growth Programme pot.

So what is the Business Growth Programme?  It’s a £33m business support programme targeted at existing B2B* SMEs ready to invest, grow and create jobs across the Greater Birmingham & Solihull, Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire and The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership areas.

Managed by Birmingham City Council and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, BGP offers 4 strands of grant support:

The HS2 Supply Chain Programme – offers grants of £20k - £167k towards towards project costs for companies to realise their current growth plans, in order for them to take advantage of future HS2 business opportunities.

The Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme – offers grants of £20k - £150k towards project costs for supply chain companies operating in, or expanding into the green economy, demonstrating quantifiable green benefit (i.e. energy efficiency, waste management, recycling and renewables).

The Business Innovation Programme – offers grants of £10k - £30k towards project costs for SMEs investing in innovative close-to-market processes, products and services.

The Business Development Programme – offers grants of £10k - £20k towards project costs for businesses looking to expand, relocate and improve access to markets.

Over 450 SMEs have been supported with their expansion plans since launching in 2016, and with the deadline for programme closure looming, we would urge businesses to come forward and take advantage of the grant funding while it’s still available.

Approved businesses will have to fully complete their projects by February 2019 at the very latest including spend, defrayal and claiming the grant.  Priority will be given to investment ready projects that can be completed before this time.  Projects extending beyond the February 2019 deadline will not be considered.
