The STEM-Up project, which is part-funded by the European Social Fund, is a professional development project that gives businesses and employees access to more than 60 free courses, classes, workshop and webinars in STEM, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and soft skills subjects.
The partnership between Aston University, Birmingham City University and Solihull College & University Centre provides businesses with a wide and varied training syllabus. With training up to Level 6, including accredited courses in Leadership & Management, Accounting, Business Administration or Data Protection & Data Security; taster classes in coding, cloud computing or digital content creation; and support sessions for interviewing, presenting or creative problem-solving, among many others.
The STEM-Up programme will help you:
· Assess their existing skills and identify future requirements
· Create a personalised skills development action plan to achieve professional goals
· Identify learning opportunities to help upskilling
· Attend a series of learning programmes cost-free
· Review post-STEM-Up learning progress, evaluate development and connect with new training opportunities
How does STEM-Up work?
Individuals will be partnered with a dedicated Skills Advisor from one of the three partner institutions, who will help to identify the skills requirements of individuals within your business and match them with the learning opportunities available through the STEM-Up partnership
Once participants have completed their Skills Support programme, a dedicated Skills Advisor will help assess professional development in line with goals and ambitions, and advise on what steps to take next.
There is no fee for using STEM-Up whether you are an individual or a business placing employees through the programme. We offer this service for free because it is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), a governing body that aims to support skills development and employability.
Eligibility:
You must be aged 18 and over, have Right to Work in the UK and live in the GBSLEP More Developed Area (Birmingham, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Redditch or Wyre Forest).
